The documentation on the web site says that the user name and password used in QuintoLabs Tiny Web Proxy Virtual Appliance (VA) is “user” and “P@ssw0rd” (yes it is zero instead of 0)… and it is really so I am able to login and perform additional operations with superuser priviledges using
sudo -s. But I want my root password!
Answer? Just give the root his password by typing
$sudo passwd root, reboot the machine and enjoy!
As for the reasons why root account is disabled in Ubuntu by default (and VA is actually based on Ubuntu Server 10.04) see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RootSudo.
Should next VA be based on Debian 6?
